1st is as seen in the image (left) and the video below, is a cap (scull cap) that is placed over your head before you apply your wig and is used to tuck or conceal your existing hair. |
What is a wig cap?

This cap is the base of a wig in which the hair, either synthetic or real hair is attached to and forms the wig itself. There are several different kinds of caps which have the hair attached in different ways. On most ladies wigs, hair is attached in what are called ‘wefts’ or rows of hair and are generally machined sewn.
Standard Cap Wigs or standard weft – is the most common cap style for ladies wigs with the layers of hair machined stitched into a string type mesh or cloth. The standard caps are generally the simplest type and therefore the cheapest.

Monofilament Cap Wigs or mono-top – is designed to make the wig look like part of your scalp. It consists of a breathable gauze like material which is nearly transparent and very thin and light. It is the most popular of all wig caps and is made from high quality material that enables a natural scalp color for the wearer. (see article What are monofilament wigs). |

vacuum cap is a suction type full scalp cap made from a flexible silicone base with the hair moulded or knotted into the silicone base. Vacuum caps are more suited to persons who have no hair on their head, it is possible to swim with a vacuum base wig.
