I have quite long hair, thats also quite thick, but for a fancy dress party I am going to be wearing a long blonde wig. Do I need buy a wig cap, if im only going to be wearing it for a day and never again? I only want to buy it if its absolutely necessary, as this party is already costing quite a lot.

No, just tie it back (use lots of gel/wax) into a high pony and make a flat bun
If you want then wrap cling film on topor use a swimming cap
Maybe you could tie it back, use some hairspray and a hair net. Those aren’t expensive.
You should be able to find a wig cap for $2 -$3. Or you can modify a pair of hosiery if you really need one. Should look like this: http://www. totallycostumes. com/sn-79025-wig-cap. html
Wig caps are used to secure the hair and keep fly-away hair strands from falling out of the wig. I have big curly hair, so when I wear wigs it is necessary for me to have a wig cap to keep it from falling out of the wig as my hair is pretty thick and heavy.
A wig cap was a worthwhile purchase for me as I wear a wig with each costume. Maybe get one and keep it around for Halloween? Good luck, hope this helped a bit!
